Samuel Eto’o officially announces retirement from football

The Cameroonian International and 4-time African  Player of the Year, Samuel Eto’o, has officially announced his retirement from football.

After spending 22 years as a footballer, the player has decided to retire at the age of 38.

As a footballer, he helped Spanish La Liga side, Barcelona win several major trophies and represented Cameroon in four world cups.

He started his youth career at Kadji Sports Academy, joined Real Madrid and later was loaned to Leganes, Espanyol and Mallorca.

He played for international club teams like Chelsea, Everton, Sampdoria, Konyaspor, Qatar SC and more.

He helped Cameroon win the AFCON 2000 and 2002. In 1998, he was the youngest participant in the 1998 FIFA World Cup when he appeared in a 3–0 group stage loss to Italy 17 June 1998, at the age of 17 years and three months.

He holds the record of being Cameroon’s all time scorer.
