Even though he wasn’t selected to participate in the just ended 2019 AFCON tournament, Ghanaian Goalkeeper Fatau Dauda has something nice to say about Ghana Blackstars Head Coach, Kwesi Appiah.

Dauda expressed that, Ghanaians find it very difficult to work with their own coach, a coach born and raised in Ghana, rather than a foreigner.

In an interview with Vim Talk show host, Afia Pokua, he said:

“Coaching is a very strategic profession, a coach can stand on the line, throw his hands and shout without doing anything meaningful. They don’t say anything, nothing at all. People are judging Kwesi Appiah based on his reaction on the field, and that’s very wrong. A coach’s advice in the dressing room is more important than his reaction on the field.

“The coach’s duty is to teach players how to perform properly before they get to the field, but if the perform poorly, it’s their fault sometimes, not the coach’s. So I find it unnecessary if they blame Kwesi Appiah for the Blackstar’s entire performance. We should never even think of sacking Kwesi Appiah. He’s our own, we should give him enough time to prepare and let’s stop giving him pressure.” He said.
